On February 21, 1998 the first Nichiren Shoshu Buddhist Temple opened in Africa. The temple is called Hokkeji Temple that is located on a mountainside outside of Accra, Ghana. The area is called Fan Milk junction. Proud Black Buddhist Publisher Anthony "Amp" Elmore traveled to Ghana in 1998 to document the temple opening.
